Robin Pope Safaris Celebrates 25 Years

Robin Pope Safaris led its first mobile walking safari in Zambia’s South Luangwa National Park in 1990 and is marking this 25th anniversary in 2015 with a special extended itinerary.

In the company of a highly experienced guide, guests will strike out on foot for an exclusive seven-night expedition (rather than the usual five) into the epic expanse of the Luangwa Valley, including a night spent sleeping under the stars. A walking safari is an exceptional experience; with no 4WD vehicle to separate guests from the wilderness, every sight, sound and smell is powerfully intensified.

A highly trained guide will lead the group through the bush, hoping to spot elephant, buffalo, leopard, lion, giraffe and hippo, plus over 450 species of bird. The guide will teach participants how to read the language of wild animals, and to identify animals’ behaviour.

After spending a night at Nkwali Camp on the banks of the Luangwa River, guests head out into more remote parts of the savannah to begin the journey along the banks of the Mupamadzi River. Covering a distance of around 10km each day, the first night will be spent sleeping under the stars on a bedroll under a mosquito net cube. Throughout the remainder of the trip, accommodation will be in meru walk-in tents; moving campsite every other day.

Departing 28 August and 4 September 2015 only, the trip costs from £4,279 per person including seven nights’ mobile walking safari, topped and tailed by one night at Nkwali Camp and two nights at Nsefu/Tena Tena Camp, safari activities with expert guides, all meals and transfers. Flights are extra.
