Olympic Holidays Follow in the Footsteps of The Durrells

ITV’s new six-part Sunday night serial 'The Durrells' launched on April 3. It stars Keeley Hawes as the hapless head of the Durrell household, frequently alarmed by her young son’s growing menagerie of animals: the boy who grew up to be wildlife champion Gerald Durrell, who recorded those childhood years in the book ‘My Family and Other Animals’.

The series was filmed in Corfu in September last year and Greek islands specialist Olympic Holidays anticipates a bumper year for tourism as TV brings the natural beauty of the island to a new audience.

Olympic Holidays has a wide choice of accommodation across the island, from simple studios in fishing villages, to five-star hotels with spa facilities. For example, set on a lush green hillside on the east coast, near the Durrell family’s first Corfu home is the four-star Aeolos Beach Resort. Landscaped grounds run down to a private beach and the narrow streets of Corfu Town are a 10km bus ride away.

A week’s holiday in May costs from £366 per person (twinshare) including flights from Gatwick, 15kgs hold baggage, resort transfers and all meals and drinks on the hotel’s all-inclusive package.
