Joanna Lumley: Boosting Bookings to Greece

Olympic Holidays, the market leader to Cyprus, Greece and her islands, has seen 2012 holiday bookings increase 10 per cent compared to this time last year. The company credits Joanna Lumley's new series on ITV1 as a big factor in this new and positive interest.

The programme shows Greece is not all about economic doom and strikes in Athens. It focuses on the contribution which Greece has had made over centuries, to the world's political systems, its culture and philosophy.

Olympic Holidays has introduced the small Greek islands of Samos, Lesvos and Thassos to its 2012 holiday programme. They are included in the brochure's 'Alternative Greece' section joining a wide choice of lesser-known islands.

Properties offered in Samos include the luxury Doryssa Bay Hotel (7 nights half-board from £625) and the Samos Sun Hotel & Apartments (7 nights B&B from £515).

On Lesvos, the choice is between the Pasiphae Hotel, the Molyvos 1 Hotel and the Belvedere Hotel, all of three-star standard. Seven nights on all-inclusive basis at the Belvedere starts at £499.

The five-star Ilio Mare Resort and the four-star Alea Hotel & Suites and Makryammos Hotel make up the Thassos offer.  Prices start at £595 for 7 nights half-board at the Makryammos.
